Kickin' Off Summer

church was great today.

I'm so excited about ministering to other students. I see so many who live with doubts and issues that could be so easily healed by God's word. it's gonna be awesome to watch the Holy Spirit birth the outreaches and discipleship. working with the kids is fun too. today we talked about having a fruits of the Spirit food fight. now that's ministry!

my job at Scripture Haven is going great. lots of good reading and fellowship with my coworkers. the Lord reminded me this week not to slack. I need to bless my employer and do those extra things to make the store run smoother.

my apartment is starting to be home. we've got a few pieces of furniture and some posters up. but we still have a long way to go. our neighbors were having a party the other night. at first I thought "eh, it's gonna be loud", but then I realized "that's good, we can bring 'em to Jesus". I look forward to however God will use us to reach the apartments around us.

my prayer requests are to be increasingly filled with the Spirit everyday, to soak up God's word like a sponge, and to fulfill the opportunities God's given me. thanks!

Movin' On Up

I'm so thankful to the Lord for my life.

I drove back today with Laura, after a great time with her family. Esther is getting married tomorrow! after the festivities, Laura and I will drive to my home and then on to Midland. we're staying with my grandparents for a few days and I'm gonna give her a tour of my hometown.

I'm moving into the next phase of my life this summer. God's blessed me with a great job and my first apartment! I'll be working at a christian book store, rooming with Laurens Doelman, and serving with Calvary Chapel Aggieland. I'll have plenty of time to pray and study, and I'll still get to see Laura almost every week.

I'm studying thru Mark right now and today a verse caught me. Jesus tells his disciples to bring a blind man to him, so they tell the man "Be of good cheer. Rise. He is calling you." (Mark 10:49) I didn't even notice the verse until I was reading thru chuck smith's commentary, and it caught me by surprise. I believe God is calling me into full time ministry, and this verse today is like a small note of encouragement. It's an incredible experience to feel God's encouragement, just awesome.

I often find the Lord leading me as I read thru His word day by day. If you aren't having daily times with the Lord and reading thru the Word, you're crippling yourself. make time to sit with Jesus and let His words open your life. it's just awesome.
